See how your company appears in a search result
The two lines under your name in a search result are yours to write. If you have not written them, the search engine cuts something out of your page instead.

If you do not write those two lines, a machine does
A search result is a title and about two lines of description. Leave them undefined and the search engine lifts whatever it finds near the top of the page.
In practice that means results reading "Welcome to our website" or a run of menu labels. What you make does not appear anywhere in the one thing a stranger actually reads. Put your product range and your location in that space and the same ranking position starts earning clicks.
The same tags drive link previews. Paste your address into LinkedIn, Slack or WhatsApp and if the preview data is missing you get a bare blue link. When you are sending your company to a prospect, that difference is doing quiet work against you.
For manufacturers there is a sharper version of this problem. The specifications are on the page, but they are baked into images. Half the UK sites we scanned had no table a search engine could read — the numbers exist, they are just invisible to everything except a human eye.
Search for your own company
- Search your company name and read the title and the two lines underneath.
- If those lines are not a sentence you wrote, the tags are empty.
- Now search for what you make rather than who you are. This is where most sites disappear.
- Paste your address into Slack or WhatsApp and see whether a preview card appears.
The third one matters most. Almost every company ranks for its own name, because the people searching already know you. The traffic you do not have is the buyer searching for a product who has never heard of you, and that search is decided by whether your specifications exist as text.
Often a day of writing
Titles and descriptions are text you type in. No rebuild required.
If somebody maintains the site for you, hand them a title and description per page and the job is done. This is genuinely one you do not need me for, and the result says so.
Specifications trapped in images are the harder case. Search engines cannot read words inside a picture, so those numbers have to be rebuilt as text and tables. That is where the work stops being an afternoon and starts being a structural change to the product pages.

About this check
Will a description alone move my ranking?
It mostly moves clicks rather than position. Two sites in the same slot do not get the same traffic if only one of them wrote its own summary.
What is structured data?
A machine-readable block listing your company name, address and phone number. The site works without it; with it, search engines quote your details accurately.
My product pages never show up.
Usually one of three things: no sitemap, specifications locked inside images, or URLs that changed in a past redesign. The result separates them.

I will build a concept of your homepage using your own name and your own products, so you can see what these findings look like once they are fixed. The concept is free — if you do not like it, close the tab.
