Check whether someone ready to enquire can actually do it
Half the manufacturer sites we scanned ask for special parts to your requirements and then give the buyer nowhere to attach a drawing.

The most expensive place to lose someone
A visitor who has read a product page to the end is most of the way there. Losing that person because they cannot work out how to contact you is the costliest failure on the site.
The patterns repeat. A phone number rendered as part of an image, so tapping it on a phone does nothing. An email address that appears only in the footer of the about page, where nobody browsing products will pass. An enquiry board that requires an account before it will accept a message.
The one specific to this industry is the quote form that cannot take a drawing. The page offers bespoke work, made to your specification, non-standard sizes — and the form has three fields: name, email, message. So the buyer rings to ask where to send the DXF, waits for someone to find an address, then emails it separately. Every one of those steps sheds people, and the ones who drop out never appear in any report you see.
Arrive as a stranger would
- Load the first screen and see whether a phone number or email is visible without scrolling.
- On a phone, tap the number. Nothing happens? It is an image, not a link.
- Open the quote form and look for a file field. If you make anything to order, this is the one that matters.
- Submit the form yourself and find out which inbox it lands in.
Very few companies have done that last step recently. We have found live forms delivering to someone who left years ago, and forms quietly filing into a spam folder. It reads as "we do not get enquiries through the website" when the truth is that nobody is opening them.
Most of it is half a day
Making the number dial, adding a file field, pointing the form at the right inbox — half a day covers all three on most sites.
No rebuild needed. Whoever maintains the site can do it, and the result tells you exactly which element to point them at.

About this check
Do we really need a form if people just ring us?
If your customers are local and phone-first, maybe not. But an overseas buyer three time zones away, or anyone looking after hours, has no other route. Both open is the safer arrangement.
Will accepting file uploads fill up our hosting?
Not if the file is passed straight to your inbox rather than stored on the server. That is how I build them.
Will we get more spam?
A quiet automated check goes in alongside it. None of the forms I have built have had a spam problem.
Want to see yours rebuilt first
I will build a concept of your homepage using your own name and your own products, so you can see what these findings look like once they are fixed. The concept is free — if you do not like it, close the tab.
