A website check that judges manufacturers on what actually matters
General tools measure speed and keywords. Manufacturing sites win or lose on specifications, certifications and the quote route. This one was built around those.

Figures from our own scans, September 2026 · built while checking 940-odd manufacturer websites
An industrial site is judged in a different place
A shop is won or lost at the basket. A manufacturer is won or lost at the specification and the quote route. Score both with the same yardstick and the items that decide the sale never get measured.
Going through 940-odd manufacturer sites, the same things kept surfacing. Specifications set as a single flat image: readable to a person, invisible to a search engine, impossible for a buyer to paste into their own internal document. Data sheets published only as PDFs, with no figures anywhere on the page itself. Of the 202 UK sites in our most recent scan, half had no specification table at all and a third kept their numbers in a PDF only.
Certifications go the same way. ISO registration, approvals, framework listings — the things that decide whether you are allowed to quote — filed away on an inner page. The company spent months earning them and the first-time visitor never learns they exist.
And the quote form, which half of those sites will not let a buyer attach a drawing to, on pages openly advertising bespoke work.
Eleven items, 100 points
- Secure connection — whether the browser flags your address
- Mobile layout — whether phones shrink the page
- Search basics — title, description, link preview, structured data
- How current the build is — estimated from file timestamps and dated markup
- Ways to get in touch — email, tap-to-call and an enquiry route on the first screen
- Readable content — how much text the first screen actually carries
- How product data is structured — whether specs exist as text rather than pictures
- Speed and weight, legal disclosures, crawl setup and export readiness
Every weighting and threshold is printed on the result page. There is nothing hidden about what cost you points.
A low score is not automatically a rebuild
Installing a certificate or writing titles and descriptions is a few hours. The result separates those from the findings that need structural work.
It also shows the average across every site in your region that has been through the tool. That comparison is more useful than the raw number, because it is the situation your buyers are actually in: two suppliers open in two tabs, being read side by side.
Where a fix is enough, the result says so. Where a rebuild makes more sense, I will build a concept of your homepage from your own photographs and specifications so you can see it before deciding anything. That concept is free.
The person behind the tool
About this check
We are not a manufacturer. Can we still use it?
Yes, though items like product data structure are weighted for industrial sites and may cost you points unfairly.
Do you contact everyone who runs a check?
No. The run is logged, but nothing is sent unless you ask for the result by email.
What are the 940 sites?
Electrical, power equipment, machined parts and industrial suppliers in the UK, the US and Korea. The tool was built to research them and published once it was good enough.
Want to see yours rebuilt first
I will build a concept of your homepage using your own name and your own products, so you can see what these findings look like once they are fixed. The concept is free — if you do not like it, close the tab.
